Advil Project - April 2021

I used the orange coating on Advil pills to paint a series of objects that are associated with comfort and pain, I collected these objects through an online survey. In the process of painting these, the overlap between the two seemingly opposing feelings became clear. It is interesting to try and understand how each object depicted could both be painful and soothing. Advil brings comfort and it is also connected with memories of pain, making it the perfect medium to use.
